insatiable-geek: Kaylee’s Strawberry Cosmo

Ingredients:
2 strawberries
1 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Strawberry Liqueur
1/2 oz. simple syrup
dash of orange juice

Directions: Combine all of the ingredients except the strawberries and orange juice in a cocktail strainer with ice.  Shake until mixed, and strain into a martini glass.  Add the orange juice and garnish with strawberries. Nice and sweet, just like our favorite spaceship mechanic.

My father was in a fire back in October and burnt 34% of his body ranging all the way to 3rd degree burns. To ensure he couldn’t feel any pain, they induced him into a coma while he healed. After a few days he started to wake up and interact with us, but the nurses said he wouldn’t remember anything. But one day after they gave him a drug that had about a 50% chance of working, he was staring at the corner of his hospital room. When we asked him what he saw, he nodded when we asked if it was an angel. This tattoo memorializes my father’s ability to overcome months of healing to get back on his feet where he is today, and how such an incident can bring my whole family, despite differences, together to support him.
